4.2 - Packet Switching Technology

This image is a example of packet switching technology. To make this technology run correctly you first need a router to send requests and receive information. SO the client requests information from a server then that information is directed back towards the users IP address. The IP datagram is needed for servers to send the requested data in packets along a concurrent data transmission. The TCP must organize and check and make sure the information is correct and all together. Then the IP sends the information in using packet-switching technology.

4.1 IFS H/W Infrastructure

In this diagram we can see that someone is using the input technology of a keyboard and mouse to type in the word HELLO. This word is then sent through processing technologies to be transformed into machine language according to the ASCII code. This information is put into the CPU where the control unit schedules it for delivery to the designated area. This information is binary code which is made up of bits and bytes. The ALU component of the CPU takes over to make the correct calculations in decoding this particular message. Then this information shows up at the receiver using whatever there particular output technology would be. This whole flow is thanks to the system unit which is what this entire process is.

3.2 The Selling Of Our Idea

Faith, fear, and fact have played a major roll in how we convinced our contractors to incorporate the new technologies that we now use in our panther puppy daycare. We used faith by showing that if they used our transaction processing system they would be able to obtain positive moral improvement and most importantly increased revenue. We used fear by explaining to them that if they did not implement the customer relationship system there customer moral would fall and that eventually this would lead to little to no customers and would eventually lead to bankruptcy. We also used the aspect of fact to convince the contractors of Panther puppy day care by showing them the benefit analysis chart. With this we could show them with real numbers that if the implemented our management supply system that we could assure that they see a 20% increase in sales by the end of the year.

3.1 Value Chain

This is the value chain for our cute and delicious panther puppy daycare. We first need to organize ourselves by deciding how were getting our supplies and what supplies we are going to purchase. A great information system that would help us achieve this goal would be a supply chain management system.

Secondly we would need to make sure we can keep record of all the owners and puppies we are taking care of. For this particular issue we plan to set up a customer relationship management system.

The next objective we would have to achieve would be actually taking care of our customers cute little puppies. We would most likely achieve this most simply with a functional area information system.
Then finally we would have to make the customer pay for the services there puppy received while in our care. For this we would use a transaction processing system to achieve this with the least amount of errors.

Many different computer information systems play a major roll in our business to be the success it is today. We look forward to the continued technical support of our staff and all the technology we have brought on board.

2.2 Automobile Industry

Article Summary: An idea of a "world car" is proposed but through the article the author explains the barriers necessary to get over before we can create a world car.  The author also goes into explanation about how the world market has affected the automotive industry in the world today. 

Questions:

1. Globalization 3.0 is fueling a change in the automotive market by opening up markets for which car can sell. Also it gives companies the opportunity to ship their companies to other countries through off-shoring which helps them expand their marketing ability.

2. Cultural differences make it very difficult to create such a thing as a "world car". For example other countries drive on the left side where in the United States we drive on the right. Also in America we tend to want bigger car; where in Europe they enjoy smaller more compact vehicles. 

2.1 Globalization Triggers

Flickr is a photo sharing site that offers many different services to its user. Flickr gives the user an opportunity to tag there photos "folksonomy". The users can also rate photos. This gives higher ranked photos an opportunity to have your photo posted up for more people to see. \

The first enabler i came to notice was the enabler of off shoring. Flickr uses off shoring because it was created in Canada and is available to users in the USA. 

The second enabler would be uploading which is when one person puts information up for everyone to see and access. Flickr for example uses uploading when someone puts up a photo they can set so other people can see the photo.

The third enabler is in-forming. In-forming is a search engine. Some example of in-forming would be ask.com, Google, or yahoo. Flickr uses in-forming by having a search engine in their site for users to use to find photos concerning a particular subject.

1.3 Orgnization Chart for CIS Department

Choice of the 3 most important jobs:
 If I had to choose three jobs for my company I would want a CIO so I have someone over looking the entire and managing the entire system. I would also want a Business Analyst so they could advertise my system to the customers and increase sales. Lastly I would want a computer programmer to program our system and to maintain all our information. These job functions will be vital in our creation of a more technical company.
